PokerStars Bonus Review
September 23, 2008
PokerStars is the biggest poker room on the internet, and this means great promotions, great traffic and great tournaments. At PokerStars you will never have to wait for a game because there are no games starting every second. The PokerStars “Sunday Million” tournament is the biggest weekly guaranteed tournament of all online poker rooms, with $1.5 Million guaranteed and there are plenty of other tournaments run throughout the week with massive prize pools. The turbo takedown is a great new promotion, where you buy-in to a $1 Million guaranteed tournament with only Frequent Player Points. This means every month you have a shot at the first place prize of $100K just for building player points that month. PokerStars is a great room for all poker players as they offer the greatest variety of tournaments and ring games of all poker rooms on the internet.
Initial Deposit Bonus
PokerStars offers a 100% matching bonus up to $50 on all first deposits. To receive this bonus you must use the bonus code “First2008” when making your first deposit. To release the bonus you must earn Frequent Player Points by playing in PokerStars ring games and tournaments. The bonus is then released in one lump sum once you earn ten times the bonus amount in FPP’s. For example, to release a $50 bonus you must earn 500 FPP’s. You have 6 months to earn enough FPP’s to release the bonus.

WCOOP – PokerStars runs an annual World Championships of Online Poker – $30 Million guaranteed.
Turbo Takedown – On the last Sunday of every month use your FPP’s to buy-in to the $1 Million guaranteed tournament.
Satellites to all EPT, APPT and LAPT events – Earn your seat to many live events that PokerStars sponsors.

Multi-table Tournaments
According to Daniel Negreanu, PokerStars has tournaments starting every second, and he’s not lying. PokerStars is the biggest poker room on the internet, and with that title, comes plenty of games. There are games for all bankrolls, from under a dollar to $500 plus.
On Sundays, PokerStars is definitely the place to be for the multi-table tournament player. Start off with the $750K guaranteed “Sunday Warm-up”, then move onto the big $1.5 Million guaranteed “Sunday Million” and finish off the day by playing in the $300K “Second Chance”.
PokerStars has a ton of satellite tournaments running to all these big guaranteed events, as well as to the big live event satellites. At PokerStars you can always find a tournament day or night, especially if you are looking for a satellite to a major event.
Sit and Go Tournaments
There are sit and go tournaments running constantly at PokerStars of every game type and buy-in. The buy-ins are as low as $0.10 and as high as $5000. There are a ton of satellite sit’n’go tournaments you can play to earn entry into the big events. Whatever the time is you will have no trouble finding a game to your liking.
Ring Games
PokerStars offers a wide range of ring games, from $0.01/$0.02 micro limit tables right up to capping out at $200/$400 tables. The average pot, the hands per hour and the players per flop percentage can all be viewed in the lobby, before joining the game.

Software and Graphics
PokerStars has good functioning software, with decent graphics. The lobby has recently been updated to a sleek, black interface, which is a big improvement from the old red and green colours. The lobby is very easy to understand, with plenty of options and customizable searches, which allow you to find your game very quickly.
PokerStars does not use avatars, but instead allows players to upload a picture to be seen during games. The tables are resizable, without any loss of graphics, which makes multi-tabling and multi-tasking very easy. PokerStars is the perfect place for multi-tabling as Hevad Khan, a new PokerStars pro, showed in an old youtube video, where he multi-tabled with over sit and go’s.
Competition
PokerStars is home to a wide variety of player types and skill levels. Being the biggest poker room on the internet means that many pro’s do make their living playing high stakes at PokerStars, however many beginners and fish also start at PokerStars, as it is the most widely known poker room around the world, so the low limit games can still be beaten easily enough.
The players per flop percentage varies greatly, from game to game, but 30% would be a fairly average figure.
Support
PokerStars is a little behind in terms of support, as they currently only offer support via email. The email support is very fast and accurate, but it would be nice to see a live chat option or a 24-hour phone number available in the future.
